There are a number of dimensions of safety. The psychological dimension is concerned with the emotional health and wellbeing of students, such as creating an environment that is nurturing and supportive. The physical aspect of safety addresses such things as properly equipped classrooms and correct anatomical instruction of technique along with injury prevention.

  • Dance 3D endeavours to build trusting relationships between students, teachers and parents by encouraging good communication and respect between all parties.
  • It is essential that all teachers and staff share the same work ethic, principles and values in order to create a nurturing environment for students.
  • It is vital that we consider current research around Safe Dance Principles to ensure students are allowed to physically develop prior to completing skills that may hinder growth or development.
  • Stretching and warm ups are included in each class to allow Safe Dance Principles to be adhered to.
  • Foundation and developmental movements are taught and mastered before students are able to move safely to the next level of work. Parents and teachers communicate openly around this to assist with injury prevention or long term physical concerns.
  • There is a focus on building the self-esteem and emotional wellbeing of the students and emphasise a balanced approach to training.
  • Our teachers all have a current “working with children” check and hold current First Aid Certificates.

Class placement decisions are derived from many years of teaching experience. Often a child is placed in a particular group or class where he or she will feel confident, in order to promote the development of self-esteem. Some students who are placed in a higher level become discouraged, only to lose their passion for dance. Others respond to the challenge of being in a class with students who are more proficient by pushing themselves to work harder. Placement is highly individual and the factors that go into the decision are complex. Teachers work together with students and parents to make this decision and it is not a matter to be taken lightly. Please understand that the team at Dance3D are here to best support your child’s personal development in dance.
